This kit features 2 catch cans. One is used for the PCV valve and one is used on the CCV side of the crankcase. The anodized aluminum catch can bracket mounts near the front LH side of the engine. A polished billet plate secures to 3 OEM grounding points. Because this is manufactured from aluminum, it conducts electricity. The large anodized dual catch can bracket secures to the ground plate with aluminum spacers to clear the supercharger pulley.
Mounted at the front of the bracket is the CCV (crankcase vent) catch can. This catch can simply intercepts the dry sump vent line to the intake. At low loads, this catch can experiences atmospheric pressure. However, when the engine is at high load (WOT), these vents will experience high flow out of the crankcase. This would normally lead to oil and sludge accumulation in the air filter intake pipe.
The PCV catch can is secured at the rear of the mounting bracket. The OEM PCV valve is integrated in the crankcase valley under the supercharger. Because the PCV valve is consolidated, it cannot be reused for a catch can. To allow the installation of a catch can on the PCV breather, the OEM PCV valve is replaced with a billet bypass.
A PCV hose routes from this bypass to the PCV catch can. The outlet of the catch can features a Radium Engineering PCV valve which routes "clean air" to the intake manifold. When the intake manifold pressure is close to or greater than atmospheric pressure, the PCV valve closes and this hose experiences no flow. Conversely, the PCV hose will experience metered vacuum when the engine is idling, steady state cruising, and decelerating. This would normally draw unwanted crankcase vapor, unspent fuel, and oil sludge into the engine immediately after a high load run.
