Precision-cut out of 1mm-thick titanium sheets, they act as a thermal barrier between the pad and the caliper body to protect the piston seals, dust boots, and brake fluid from direct exposure to race-hot temperatures.
Short term, this can help prevent the brake fluid from boiling if your brake system is running at its thermal limits. Longer term, these shields can extend the life of the caliper piston seals and dust boots, making caliper rebuilds a less frequent need.
